Buying your first dakimakura can feel overwhelming. Size, fabric, print tech, filling, care — we distilled it into a 5-point checklist so you get a premium piece that lasts years.
Size: 160cm × 50cm Is the Gold Standard
Full-body length for 170–185cm users. 50cm width supports side-sleeping without roll-off. Smaller "45cm" covers bunch up; larger "160×60" stretches art.
Fabric: Demand 2-Way Tricot
Only warp-knit tricot gives mechanical stretch + print receptor quality. Peach skin = pilling. Polyester = plastic feel.
Print: 8-Color or Walk Away
4-color CMYK cannot do anime gradients. Insist on 8-color (LC, LM, O, G added). Ask for print spec — vendors hiding it are using 4-color.
Filling: High-Density PP Cotton
Holds shape, breathes, hypoallergenic. Cheap "polyester fiber" flattens in months.
Care: Cold Wash, Air Dry, No Bleach
Turn inside out. Gentle cycle 30°C. Hang dry shade. Iron reverse low heat. Your print stays vivid 5+ years.
